I visited Portugal some years ago and the one thing that springs to mind whenever someone mentions the Algarve is the incredible fresh fish. While many visitors are likely to associate this part of the world with golf, I remember being bowled over by the impressive selection of seafood that is fished from local shores and served at restaurants, many of which have panoramic views of the dramatic coastline.

However, with a vast network of courses, golf is also a natural draw and the Algarve has often been named the top European destination for this sport. The beautiful scenery and welcoming climate play a role in its appeal. However, there is also much more to discover than just the putting green, especially at VILA VITA Parc.

Vila Vita Parc

Vila Vita Parc is a luxury hotel located on the Algarve

VILA VITA Parc is an award winning luxury resort that is nestled right on the coast and just a short drive from Faro Airport (30 minutes using the tolled motorway). The majority of this property is set ever so slightly back from the cliff edge with a path that leads guests down a wooden staircase and onto the sandy beach below. Direct access to a beach from a hotel is always a big plus and even more so when you are located near one as beautiful as the Algarve where the rocks are nature’s sculptures.

VILA VITA Parc covers a deceptively large area: the luscious gardens are filled with impressive palms and pathways that weave through the extensive grounds. The hotel prides itself on presenting guests with the best of Portugal. As soon as you arrive through the grand entrance, it is clear that you are in for a treat by staying at one of Europe’s finest 5* hotels.

The sea views at VILA VITA Parc are wonderful

In the style of the Algarve, there is a 9 hole golf course on site and also Crazy Golf, which is ideal for everyone to enjoy – even those who have never played before. However, there is also so much else on offer at VILA VITA Parc, especially for those who like to maintain a level of fitness whilst away on holiday.

The badminton court is beautifully laid out, with tennis lessons and volleyball also an option. Meanwhile, for those who enjoy running, the resort has immediate access to a stunning cliff walk path. Watching the sunrise during an early morning workout along a discreet route that wends its way over the iconic coastline of the Algarve is a truly magical experience and nature at its very best.

When you are within the parameters of VILA VITA Parc it feels as though you are wandering through a lavish village. There are plenty of nooks and crannies where you can relax in a sun lounger while admiring spectacular sea views and the resort maintains an authentic Portuguese charm throughout. The service is excellent but not overpowering and the staff get the balance just right.

VILA VITA Parc

VILA VITA Parc owns 9 restaurants in total

This hotel is particularly excellent at offering privacy; whether you want to escape to the intimate sun garden that provides an infinity style view of the sea, or lie in a hammock that floats over one of the cold water pools, there are plenty of relaxations spaces that make you feel as though you have the whole place to yourself.

Despite the great selection of sporting facilities, the idea of relaxation is very prominent, especially at the spa. Wellness is a key theme that runs throughout the resort and VILA VITA embraces the healthy lifestyle. There is also a range of treatments and classes available to help you follow a holistic approach and achieve an all-round sense of wellbeing.

The spa is its own entity and tucked away from the main building. There are exclusive beauty treatments including facials and massages available, as well as physiotherapy, osteopathy and reflexology sessions.

Away from the spa, the facilities include several swimming pools with both heated and non heated options, as well as an entire area that is dedicated to adults only, which is ideal for those seeking a peaceful escape. This is continued in one of the restaurants for all sittings; however, several also welcome children and there are plenty of activities available to keep little ones occupied, which also makes it a good destination for families.

VILA VITA Parc

VILA VITA Parc has private villas as well as hotel rooms to enjoy

The choice of dining is impressive: there are nine VILA VITA restaurants in total and six of these are located at the main property, with three more in nearby surroundings. The standout experience is Ocean, which has two stars and is well known for its exquisite food and seasonal menus. For something a little more casual, the Adega restaurant focuses on Portugese food and serves up a good selection of local dishes. It has a view that overlooks a magnificent fountain that is situated within a lake, which is home to some elegant swans and also marks the centre point of VILA VITA.

The accommodation at VILA VITA comprises rooms within the main hotel and separate villas. The latter are very spacious and perfect for a family or large group. Some of the luxury villas are especially notable and include a private swimming pool, incredible views and also a personal hospitality team to help give you all of the home comforts without any organisational stress.

The hotel rooms within the main building are also pretty divine, with many boasting peaceful terraces that offer views overlooking the stunning gardens and the sea in the distance.

VILA VITA Parc

VILA VITA Parc has plenty of places to relax and unwind

The resort is a haven for sun worshippers and provides plenty of spots to enjoy the warmth of the rays. It is especially good for those wanting to enjoy a pleasant break either side of summer to prolong the warm months. Naturally, high summer is a peak time for the weather but the resort is open throughout the year.

VILA VITA Parc is ideal for those wanting to enjoy a luxurious yet tranquil getaway, while falling in love with everything that nature has to offer in the beautiful surroundings of the Algarve.

After a sunrise run along the cliff tops in the morning the view will definitely have captured your imagination and you will find yourself drawn towards the sun loungers that provide an infinity-style view of the coastline. Here you can watch waves crash against the rocks, follow the seagulls as they glide through the sky and catch up on some reading before enjoying a glass of VILA VITA’s own Rose as a pre-lunch tipple. The rest of the day is yours to imagine and I couldn’t think of a better place to spend it…
