Kick start your organic lifestyle with Fruveju
Over the past couple of years I have made a conscious effort to have a clean and healthy diet. When I first began eating organic I cut out the bad sugars, carbohydrates, red meat and I instantly noticed the difference. I drew inspiration from James Duigan’s Clean and Lean Diet and the Deliciously Ella website and App. However, one thing I’ve never tried on my organic journey was a Juice Cleanse. This is partly because I’ve often associated ‘Cleansing’ with fad diets. However, once I realised how nourishing a Juice Cleanse can be for the body, I put my ignorance to one side and opted the try the Fruveju Cleanse.
The Fruveju Cleanse offers different levels of Cleansing, so it is important to choose the right one for your body. As I was new to this, I started out with a three day Explore Cleanse, but Fruveju does offer a one, three or five day cleanse programme.
The Explore is a great introduction to cleansing, especially for those of you who are looking to embark on a healthy diet as it is designed to help break bad eating habits, eliminate cravings and make you feel wonderful from the inside out. If you’re not looking to transform your eating habits but instead need a quick detoxification then a juice cleanse would be ideal, too.
So how does it work? Well, Fruveju juices flood the cells with vitamins and minerals that gently cleanse and heal the body and, thankfully, there are no horrible detox symptoms to contend with. Fruveju use organic ingredients so the juices are never pasteurized, unprocessed, there no preservatives and are completely raw. The juices are not cooked or frozen and they press them fresh daily.
There are six 500 ml juices to drink each day, all of which are numbered to make it nice and easy. Each morning it is suggested to drink ½ a squeezed lemon in a glass of water at least 10 minutes before the first juice of the day. You can drink as much water and herbal tea as you like between each juice. Fruveju also supply you with re freeze ice packs and cooling bag in case you are travelling. You can work on a time frame that suits you best, as long as you leave two hours between each juice.
So what was I drinking over my three day Explore Cleanse?
Pure Greens (kale, lemon, ginger, celery, spinach, cucumber, green apple, spring green) It contains chlorophyll and is extremely alkaline which is essential for detoxifying the body. It is an excellent source of vitamins and minerals, enzymes and nutrients that supply essential elements required for the body’s healing processes and cell regeneration. It also helps to prevent the premature aging of cells and disease.
Spicy Lemonade (lemon, cayenne pepper, coconut nectar) Utterly refreshing, this juice contains lemon, which is powerful at removing harmful bacteria and toxins from the intestinal tract, and is also amazing at cleansing the liver and kidneys. Cayene Pepper feeds the vital elements into the cell structure of capillaries, veins, arteries and helps adjust blood pressure to normal levels. Coconut nectar is nutrient-rich, containing 17 amino acids, minerals, vitamin C, and vitamin B.
Cashew Milk (cashew nuts, cinnamon, vanilla, coconut nectar) By far my favorite juice. Cashew nuts have a rich supply of oleic acid, an essential fatty acid, which actively inhabits the transport of cholesterol into your bloodstream. Cinnamon regulates blood sugar, making it a great choice for diabetics. It also helps stop the growth of bacteria as well as fungi, including the commonly problematic yeast Candida. Vanilla acts as a mild antioxidant capable of eliminating harmful free radicals. Coconut Nectar is not only delicious, but it’s 100% organic, enzymatically alive, meaning it’s 100% raw, vegan, fat-free, low glycemic, non-gmo, and gluten free.
Watermelime (watermelon and lime) Watermelon contains the amino acids citrulline and arginine. They help promote healthy arteries, blood flow and cardiovascular function. The high potassium content of lime is very effective in removal of the toxic substances. The vitamin C content in lime increases the body’s resistance to disease, and prevents damage to the eyes.
Red Pineapple (pineapple, red apple, carrots, beets, ginger) Beets are a natural colon cleaner and the high levels of beta-carotene in the juice helps mop up harmful free radicals. Pineapple has anti-inflammatory properties and supports the digestion of proteins. Red apple contain an antioxidant called quercetin, which help boost your immune system. Carrots have the highest amount of beta-carotene and are regarded as the best cancer preventative. Ginger is most well known for aiding digestion of fats.
The juice cleanse programme is really very easy, I never felt hungry or craved solid foods during the three days, which was surprising. Sometimes I found it difficult to drink all of the 500 ml juices as they really fill you up. However, you will need to find the right time to undertake your cleanse and stick to the programme to really gain the benefits. You’ll have to scratch any work lunches or drinks parties, but it really is worth it. The main differences I noticed on my three day cleanse were; I never looked for snacks during the day, I didn’t find it that hard to not drink coffee, which I always drink religiously each morning, and my energy levels definitely increased. The three-day cleanse was fabulous, a great introduction, but to gain the maximum benefits, I would suggest going for a five-day cleanse.
