The Season: Il barbiere di Siviglia impresses at Glyndebourne Festival 2025
Many of the key events of the British Summer Social Season have benefitted from glorious weather this year. The Sloaney team recently visited Glyndebourne Festival 2025 and enjoyed beautiful sunshine throughout our experience of this impressive event.
The Glyndebourne Festival for summer 2025 has been running since May. A trip to Glyndebourne is a real treat and offers a traditional experience of summer opera.
Prior to the performance, guests are invited to picnic in the stunning gardens, which feature fragrant roses and striking sculptures. The gardens offer various different landscapes, with The Lake Garden home to mature trees and The Urn Garden packed full of scented flowers.

It is possible to bring your own picnic and find a shady spot, or you can pre-book a picnic that will be arranged for you on the day. On arrival, the Long Bar is the ideal place to meet fellow visitors prior to the performance starting and it offers Pimms, cider, English sparkling wines and champagne.
The Glyndebourne Shop is also close by and this is stocked with delightful gifts.
During the Long Interval, there is an opportunity to return to your picnic, or to book a meal at one of the restaurants. The 90 minute break provides more than enough time to enjoy a three course dining experience before returning to your seat.

Among the performance highlights this year has been Il barbiere di Siviglia. This was the festival’s opener and a performance that we particularly enjoyed.
The humorous production showcased excellent vocal talent. It was also given a fantastic injection of energy and momentum, courtesy of the expert skills of conductor Rory Macdonald.
The Festival concludes at the end of August, so there is still time to plan a visit and you can view the full schedule here. The Glyndebourne Festival 2025 is a highlight of the British Social Season and it is a wonderful occasion to enjoy with family or friends.
