Everyone feels slightly portly during the festive season. With Christmas dinner, chocolate, mince pies, cake and various different tipples, there is just so much to enjoy! I have no regrets about overindulging because life is for living and we should make the most of delicious treats on offer at this time of year.

However, with 2016 on the horizon, it is time to start thinking about resolutions for the New Year. I stay pretty fit by playing tennis and running but this year I would like to walk more and that begins now with long wintery strolls through the countryside.

I enjoyed the Christmas full moon on a recent winter walk

Even though it seems to rain almost every day at the moment, I am not going to be put off from exploring the delights of the British countryside with my border terrier in tow. However, I definitely need to set off with the right footwear and that means having shoes that are waterproof. It is bad enough slipping and sliding along muddy country paths at this time of year without having soaking wet feet at the same time.

With this in mind, I recently tried out a new pair of walking shoes in the form of the Merrell Eventyr Bluff walking boot. As soon as I saw the Merrell Eventyr Bluff walking boot I was impressed by its sturdy but very light design. This fully waterproof and moisture wicking leather walking boot is ideal for all terrains and weather conditions.

The boot has a comfortable wide fit around your feet to leave plenty of room for good walking socks. The bellows tongue ensures that no grit or water can creep in to the boots around the lace area, which is always a weak spot in most boots.

The metal eyelet lacing system means that your laces stay tied; there is nothing more annoying than having to keep stopping to retie laces.

The Merrell Eventyr Bluff Waterproof is excellent

These boots also have a breathable mesh lining which wicks away any moisture within the boot keeping your feet cool and dry for the duration of your climb. The outer soles ensure stability on even the wettest slipperiest conditions ensuring that you feel foot sure and safe on the most challenging terrain.

Overall, this is a very comfortable and durable walking boot which will provide you with a sturdy and stable foothold. A perfect purchase to aid your healthy lifestyle regime for 2016.
