We don’t want to speak too soon, but the weather forecast is looking like it will provide some sunshine this week for the 75th anniversary of the Mars Badminton Horse Trials.

The event is due to welcome visitors from across the world, including a very special guest. The organisers of the Mars Badminton Horse Trials are delighted to announce that Her Majesty The Queen will attend.

The Queen, who is Patron of British Equestrian, will join the celebrations on Sunday, May 12 to watch the final show jumping phase of the competition before presenting prizes to the winners.

Badminton Horse Trials is a popular event for members of the royal family to attend. Queen Elizabeth ll presented the Badminton trophy on the occasion of the 50th anniversary, in 1999, to the winner, the five-time British Olympian Ian Stark. Meanwhile, Zara Tindall has competed, and the Princess of Wales has previously been spotted among the crowds.

It was started in 1949 by the 10th Duke of Beaufort to prepare British riders for Olympic Games. Great Britain are the reigning Olympic champions in eventing and will be preparing to defend their title in Paris this summer.
