The Cairngorms

It has been a cracking start to 2014 for The Sloaney team and our writers have been busy attending premieres, discovering new beauty products, reporting from fashion shows, admiring artwork and exploring exciting holiday destinations.

As our regular readers know, I have a particular interest in our travel pages and – wearing my Travel Editor hat – I hopped on a plane to Aberdeenshire for a walking holiday in the Cairngorms at the start of the year. The aim was to kick the January blues and begin the month with a renewed zest for the healthy lifestyle that we champion at The Sloaney.

Long walks through remote countryside proved the perfect tonic after a month of excess, but I must admit that is was just as nice to cosy up in front of a roaring fireplace at Raemoir Country House and sample some of the area’s finest whiskey. When in Scotland…!

I have since returned from a fabulous ski trip in Val d’Isere and the champagne spray party at Folie Douce proved this resort is still buzzing with excess throughout the winter months! With stunning scenery and plenty of hidden gems to dine at in the mountains, it also provides a tranquil escape.

My most recent assignment was closer to home and involved a visit to The Vineyard in Berkshire to try the incredible ‘Judgement of Paris’ dining experience. This involves blind tastings of French versus Californian wines and you can read all about the outcome soon.

On the beauty front, there are some great products launches that we will be reporting on soon. Natasha Eddery has been with The Sloaney since the start and she is now our Senior Features Writer. Natasha covers a whole host of lifestyle topics, with a particular interest in this section. Her recent ‘Winter Skincare Rescue Guide’ is essential for those hoping to the beat the elements at this time of year and achieve a healthy glowing complexion.

Meanwhile, James Haskell provided readers with a ‘Valentine’s Day Gift Guide’, which is packed full of great suggestions for anytime of the year. Becky Jarvest continues to write her engaging Art features and Poppy Cross contributed her first article, which focused on a luxury escape in London.

Katie Ann Lamb presented from the launch of Wildflower Café in Notting Hill for Sloaney TV and Gosia Bzrenskia stepped in front of the camera to introduce the new fitness range from Every Second Counts.

We are working with some fabulous companies over the next few months and welcome interest from those looking to support an editorial series or advertorial article. We also have plenty of exclusive previews, news and features to bring our ever-growing readership.

Spring signals excitement, growth and a fresh lease of life; all things the team will be fully embracing over the next few months.
