The Season: RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2024 opens in Royal style
The RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2024 began today with an exclusive preview of this year’s show gardens and The Great Pavilion. A host of VIPs gathered, along with members of the world’s media, to explore the impressive show gardens and floral displays.
The grounds of the Royal Hospital Chelsea were bathed in glorious sunshine for the prestigious occasion, with the King arriving during the afternoon to give a royal seal of approval.
Throughout the day a number of high profile celebrities took part in various launch events to highlight specific causes and initiatives.
Dame Judi Dench was joined by a student from a Northumbrian school to place a seedling from the Sycamore Gap tree in The Octavia Hill Garden. Trust founder and social reformer, Octavia Hill fought for access to green space for all.
Gaby Roslin posed on the Children with Cancer UK Raines Repurposed Garden to help raise awareness of childhood cancer. Meanwhile, Joyful Noise, which is a community choir where everyone is living well with HIV, performed on the Terrence Higgins Trust Bridge to 2030 Garden to mark the progress that has been made in the fight against HIV. Beverley Knight joined the choir.
The RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2024 includes over 30 gardens across four categories. The gardens reflect different sizes and styles in terms of outdoor space and provide stunning inspiration for those visiting the show this week.
The Great Pavilion proves to be a delight again this year. It is home to some spectacular floral displays as well as some striking floral art. David Austin Roses have a fabulous garden, which features an array of beautiful ramblers and climbers, along with some strongly scented shrub roses too.
The Size of Wales Garden is a celebration of the abundance and diversity of life that occurs in tropical forests and reflects on the tragedy of their destruction.
There are breathtaking displays of alliums, daffodils, sweet peas, peonies and much, much more.
The Pommery Champagne Terrace is definitely the place to be this week when you need to take a break from admiring the various displays. There is also a new Pommery Champagne Horsebox Bar, which is located just off the main avenue and offers a nice shady spot near to the shopping area that is located on the eastern avenue.
