As the summer draws to an end, Patricia Bech highlights some places to visit for winter sun for readers of The Sloaney Travel pages, who want to prolong the warmer days…

Chesa Canggu, Bali
This is a discreet 36-room boutique hotel tucked just behind Batu Bolong Beach. Chesa blends modern design with Balinese craftsmanship. With two pools beneath tropical canopies, a sleek gym, and THARA, its all-day kitchen and bar, it’s a calm yet social base for surfers, digital nomads and barefoot travellers. Bali stays reliably warm through winter, averaging 27-30°C between November and March, making it an easy long-haul escape from the cold.

Selman, Marrakech
Just outside the city, Selman is an opulent five-star palace framed by the Atlas Mountains. Interiors by Jacques Garcia set the tone, with standout experiences including the renowned Chenot Spa, the newly opened SABO restaurant, and its unique Arabian horses residing in the stables and paddocks dotted throughout the estate. Autumn and winter are the best times to visit Marrakech, with October-November averaging 24-28°C by day, cooling to around 18-22°C in December-February – sunny and bright without the summer heat.
