Royal Ascot 2013: Watch our highlights from the Royal Enclosure
On Friday, I attended Royal Ascot with The Sloaney’s Social Correspondent Katie Ann Lamb and a group of friends. We found a lovely spot under an old tree in the Owners and Trainers Car Park for our pre-racing picnic. Canapes, sandwiches and fresh salad were accompanied by Pommery champagne as we soaked up the atmosphere at one of the world’s most famous flat racing events.
We then made our way to the Royal Enclosure to await the grand arrival of The Queen, who opted for a blue ensemble. The weather was beautiful and after placing some bets I popped into Box Number One to visit friends. This spot has an unrivalled view of the finish posts and we cheered on the Coolmore horses with great enthusiasm; I even struck it lucky when Leading Light came in victorious.
The style stakes were high and Katie’s striking hat, which we selected on our recent trip to The Hat Club, received many admiring glances. She teamed this with a cream dress from Coast and fuchsia shoes. Meanwhile, I opted for an LK Bennett dress with Chanel accessories.
