Bride-To-Be Diary: Enjoy the ultimate spa experience at the Four Seasons Hampshire
It is hard enough trying to juggle work with a social life, but finding time to plan a wedding as well, is enough to kick-start premature ageing and grey hairs. There is no doubt that many brides-to-be feel the impact of such stress taking its toll on their lives and bodies. So, if you are feeling mentally and physically frazzled there really is only one thing for it; indulge in a spa day!
While there are many incredible spas in London to choose from, I prefer something a little more rural. To experience utter solace and feel cut off from the rest of the world, you need to escape to the English countryside and The Four Seasons Hampshire.
Surrounded by lush woodlands, rolling hills and superbly kept gardens, the Four Seasons Hampshire is a hotel perfectly positioned in what can only be described as the very essence of beauty and tranquility. This Georgian manor house, which is steeped in history and culture, offers luxurious accommodation, incredible cuisine and, most importantly for me, an impressive spa. The range of exclusive treatments will restore your body and mind to health and vitality.
Arriving at The Four Seasons, which to my great fortune was bathed in glorious sunshine, I made my way to The Spa, located in the exquisite stable block. Unlike many hotels, The FSSpa is separate to the hotel, which lends an air of exclusivity to spa guests.
Walking into the impressive building, I was greeted by spa manager, Francine Headon, who took me on a tour of the facilities. Boasting 27,000 sq ft, The Spa has 15 treatment rooms, a clear quartz crystal sauna and amethyst steam rooms, luxury lifestyle showers, relaxations rooms and a 20x8m indoor swimming pool, with a swim-through channel that leads to the outdoor vitality pool.
The atmosphere is tranquil and the facilities are outstanding, but this spa is unique to others in the UK because it is the first to offer Sodashi therapies. Sodashi, an ancient Sanskrit word meaning wholeness, purity and radiance, is a luxurious and effective skincare range that is 100% natural, using properties sourced only for their purity, potency and therapeutic qualities.
The exclusive Sodashi therapies sounded divine, and lucky for me, my first treatment of the day was the Samadara Ultimate Age-Defying Facial. This intense facial, which lasts for 105 minutes, is intended to reawaken your skin’s natural healing energies.
It is incredibly hydrating, but, most importantly, it will help to increase firmness and reduce the appearance of fine lines. My favorite part of the facial was the rose quarts crystal massage, which was so soothing, but also enables the Samadara Ultimate Age-Defying Crème to penetrate deep into your pores, leaving your skin feeling nourished and looking radiant.
Revitalized and stress-free, I went to Cafe Santé, located in The Spa, for a bite to eat. The ambiance in this restaurant is very relaxed; you can simply stroll in for a light lunch in your spa robe and slippers. In keeping with the concept of holistic wellbeing at The Spa, Café Santé offers delicious health-conscious meals, I chose the Mee Goreng, a Wok-Fried Malaysian Spiced Yellow Egg Noodles with Chicken. Also, you simply must try their freshly made smoothies, which are out of this world.
After a delightful lunch, I headed to the outdoor vitality pool to bask in the sun for an hour before my next treatment. While you can never predict the British weather, the sun was out in all its glory during my visit, making it feel as though I was somewhere in the South of France. However, even if the weather isn’t kind to you, the glass covered infinity pool is heavenly.
The next treatment on the menu was much needed. As I tend to focus all my attention on my face, the rest of my body gets a little neglected. So, seeing as my skin was probably dehydrated and desperate for attention, I was booked in for The Spa’s Vanilla Body Bliss. This exquisite treatment exfoliates and moisturizes every inch of your skin, leaving you glowing and smelling absolutely gorgeous.
The day had passed far too quickly and I suddenly found myself on my last treatment, an express pedicure. To go with the summery feel in the air, I opted for a bright orange varnish that looked exquisite.
As one would expect from any Four Seasons Hotel, the staff are incredibly hospitable and my therapist, in particular, was outstanding. With a vast selection of glorious treatments, which can be tailored to your specific needs, this is the perfect spa retreat for brides to get pampered and prepped for their wedding day.
