Sloaney TV: A preview of Val d’Isere ski resort

Laura Toogood’s latest travel feature for The Sloaney involved visiting the chic French ski resort of Val d’Isere. Aside from offering extensive and spectacular skiing in the Alps, this mountain village also boasts luxury shops, delicious restaurants and some of the best alpine accommodation in Europe.

Our travel team explored the resort thoroughly and among the highlights of the trip was a visit to La Folie Douce, which is the ultimate party on the piste. They were lucky enough for the mid-mountain venue to be bathed in glorious sunshine, which meant that it was packed with people enjoying the fabulous setting and an electric atmosphere.

If dancing on tables in your ski boots isn’t your cup of tea, Val d’Isere also presents guests with plenty of opportunities to enjoy the local culture in areas that are tucked away from the more vibrant scene.

If you prefer a relaxed approach to your ski break and are keen to indulge yourself in sophisticated surroundings, Le Hotel Blizzard proved to be one of the best hideaways. The privately owed five star hotel boasts the only Clarins Spa in the resort, a chalet style bar and a number of rooms with views that overlook La Face. The traditional décor includes two roaring fireplaces that line the entrance.

For those of you that have yet to embark on a ski holiday this year, there is still plenty of time to enjoy an action packed weekend away in a wintery setting. Although Easter occurs towards the end of April, Val d’Isere will still be welcoming spring skiers with open arms, so it is not too late to book a trip.
