If you are looking for a destination that is suitable for a long weekend of skiing, we recommend considering Schlink 2000 in Austria. The resort is located just 20 minutes away from Innsbruck and you can fly to the city’s airport from various places in the UK.

Schlink 2000 is a brilliant place to visit for those who are beginner or intermediate skiers. It is situated in the pretty town of Fulpmes and has some beautiful blue runs that wend their way through the trees. There are also some more challenging red runs available for those who are more experienced.

The resort has several cable car lifts, which take you to the top of the mountain, as well as some chair lifts. Although it is a relatively small ski area, there is more than enough to keep you occupied for a weekend visit or a trip that spans a few days in the week.

Schlink 2000 is very family-friendly and an excellent ski resort for children. The Big Ron Ski Area is where you can have a go on skis for the first time. Meanwhile, those who are more established will love skiing down from the Panorama Bar on the Blue 1 run, which feeds into the Blue 1b run. Blue 1b offers really wide slopes with stunning tree skiing. There are also plenty of opportunities for children to try some jumps on and off the piste.

At Schlink 2000, there are various bars and restaurants located part-way down the slopes, which means you can take a break for lunch and enjoy the picturesque scenery. Some of the restaurants also have play equipment outside so that children can enjoy building snowmen and having fun after lunch.

It is possible to ski from the very top of the resort down to the bottom at the end of the day, where an apres ski bar awaits. This is a stunning ski, especially if you follow the Blue 1 and 1b onto Blue 16.

Schlink 2000 is great for kids

For those who don’t ski, fear not, Schlink 2000 also offers the opportunity to walk along some stunning paths that reach great heights. The views are simple breathtaking.

Although located a short distance from the Stubai Glacier, this resort is at a slightly lower altitude. The highest point is 2240m. This is still relatively high, but less likely to cause the altitude sickness problems that can happen when skiing on the glacier, which exceeds 3,200m in several places.

You can stay at one of the many hotels in Innsbruck, which is a vibrant city. However, for the luxury explorer, we recommend looking slightly further afield and visiting the Relais & Chateaux property, Jagdof. We will be covering this hotel in more detail in our Sloaney Ski Special. It offers a top-class spa, which is out of this world, outstanding dining and it is just 10 minutes away from Schlink 2000.
