Glorious sunshine has been beaming down on Ascot Racecourse today as the second day of Royal Ascot began in style.

Queen Camilla was joined by the Prince of Wales in the Royal Procession and Prince William gave the crowds some friendly waves as he arrived. They were accompanied in the first carriage by the Earl of Halifax and The Countess of Halifax.

Princess Eugenie was behind in the second carriage, alongside her husband Jack Brooksbank and they were with Lady Sarah Keswick and Sir Mark Prescott.

While the Royal Enclosure was busy, it was not too overcrowded, which is typical of the first two days of this prestigious event. The parents of the Princess of Wales were spotted enjoying a day out.

Guests spent plenty of time before the action on the track began enjoying sumptuous picnics in the carparks, with champagne corks heard popping as noon approached.

The feature race of the day is the Prince of Wales’s Stakes. This year sees Auguste Rodin looking to add another Group 1 to his CV after various high profile victories last year. Rachel de Thame is among the celebrity trophy presenters due to appear in the Winner’s Enclosure later after the conclusion of The Kensington Palace Stakes, which takes place at 5.40pm.
