The Baby Carrier WE love
In October BabyBjorn the brand daddy of carriers launched their latest baby carrier to the market, the WE. BabyBjorn are synonymous with Baby Carriers. They have been doing it since the 70’s, they are reliable, safe and stylish. This family owned Swedish company are experts in form and function.
The Sloaney were invited to one of the glitziest baby product launches on the ‘Mother and Baby scene’ – the launch of the BabyBjorn WE carrier at the glamorous W Hotel. Complete with champagne on arrival, products to test and first glimpse at the new fashion dot range, exclusively for John Lewis. This was an event not to be missed. Sadly I did miss it. Babies are unpredictable creatures and poor little one (LO) was having a grizzleathon.
A couple of days later the BabyBjorn WE arrived for us to try out. I was delighted to see what their latest offering had that other carriers did not.
LO, Daddy and I have been rigorously testing out the carrier. Come rain or shine, over land and sea (nearly), daily city living and country retreats. The result is we are big fans. Well, we were already, having been given an Original BabyBjorn carrier as a present when LO was born. Pre-birth I thought I was a ‘sling’ style of mamma but as it turned out when she was born I wanted something that felt much more sturdy.
First trip was into central London at rush hour. I was dreading this journey, squished in like sardines. We joined the commuters who were living up to their miserable stereotype, however I was beaming. LO was so comfy she had fallen asleep after our brisk walk to the station making this a stress free ride for me. We changed onto another tube where a friendly woman smiled and commented how contented LO looked. I beamed again. “That is the best way to carrier them” she said “They love being close to your heart, and I used to be a midwife” she whispered knowingly.
Second trip was on a coastal walk in Wales, where no buggy could go. As we took in the stunning views breathing in the fresh sea air and delighting in the late sunny weather, enjoying LO’s first holiday. “I can see the sea!” I exclaimed excitedly sharing this first moment with my daughter “Shhhhhh she’s asleep!” replied Daddy.
Since then we’ve been into the woods, to the seaside, dog walking in the countryside, back on the train/tube/bus to see the very moving Poppy installation at the Tower of London. We’ve made regular short trips to Mum & Baby Yoga without the hassle of trying to squeeze the buggy into the buggy park. We’ve put on the WE and paced around at home to calm an upset/overtired/teething/poorly LO.
The benefits of having a baby carrier speak for themselves.
What we love about the BabyBjorn WE carrier – easy to get on, put baby in/ out and take off by yourself. You put it on like you would a top, then simply fasten a strap around your tummy. Lift LO in and clip two very easy clips in place. The BabyBjorn WE is easily adjustable making swapping between parents easy and we all know Daddy’s look hot carrying a baby. The style of the BabyBjorn WE is also quite manly therefore there is no excuse for them not to wear one. The BabyBjorn WE can conveniently be rolled up therefore easy to have with you in your changing bag or buggy basket. The BabyBjorn WE uses materials that have been tested to guarantee they do not contain any health-hazardous or allergic substances.
“Today’s parents have an active lifestyle and a baby carrier needs to be practical and fit into all parts of family life. It should be just as easy to put on and wear at home in the middle of the night, as it is in a queue at the airport,” says Björn Jakobson, founder and CEO of BabyBjörn.
The WE carrier will last you from birth to age 3. That is pretty impressive. The WE carrier has 3 positions, including a back carrying position, but sadly no forward facing position (you can with the BabyBjorn One carrier). The WE carrier is at a competitive price, £84.99.
This year I have vowed to use the buggy less and carry more.
BabyBjorn is such a strong brand, I am hooked. They also do bouncers, travel cots, highchairs, weaning and toilet training accessories; www.babybjorn.co.uk
