I was fortunate enough to attend ‘Trooping the Colour’ recently as a guest of Dame Emma Jane Brown. Those familiar with British traditions will know that ‘Trooping the Colour’ is a beautiful and intricate display of pageantry, which marks the Queen’s Birthday. The event takes place on Horse Guards Parade in London and it proved an apt occasion to meet Emma, considering the impressive equine presence.

Emma’s equestrian discipline was Showjumping, whereas mine was Eventing and Dressage. However, we have plenty of common ground through a love of horses and also share the experience of competing for our country.

We met in glorious sunshine at the entrance to Horse Guards and immediately began recounting memories from the equestrian world. Emma’s most recent trip back to an event was at the Royal Windsor Horse Show where she was involved in a poignant presentation. Emma gifted Britain’s first blind show jumper, Karen Law, with a Belgian-bred grey horse after raising money to buy the animal through sky diving and other activities. This is just one example of her dedication to philanthropic activities, some of which have resulted in her being honoured with a Knighthood in Malta.

Emma was at the very top of her sport for many years. She first hit the headlines in 1984 when she won the Ladies National Championship of Great Britain at the tender age of 20. She was the first female show jumper from Great Britain to compete on the American Fall Circuit and during her trip she was a vital part of the British Nations Cup teams in Washington, New York. In fact, Emma was selected to represent her country in Nations Cup team competitions 13 times.

It is fair to say that International showjumping is one of the more glamorous aspects of the equestrian world and Emma’s background has helped define her luxury concierge company, EJB Events. While some of the key occasions that she hosts are focused around equestrian-themed events like Trooping the Colour and Royal Windsor, Emma has also offered clients other thrilling opportunities, such as an Evening with Sylvester Stallone.

With an affable nature and entrepreneurial spirit, the former showjumper offers a wide range of packages for clients. Such services include personal shopping, holidays, beauty and health retreats, a professional chef to cook in the privacy of your home, lunch and dinner on a private yacht on the Thames and even the chance to hire a private island.

With her positive outlook, Emma is eloquent, interesting and passionate about living life to the full. As a result, EJB Events presents you with the chance to design your own luxury experience with all the ingredients to make it a thoroughly enjoyable occasion.

While dazzling weather at Horse Guards certainly made the occasion all the more pleasant, Emma is her own ray of sunshine and would brighten up any event.
