Last night we visited the Great British Beer Festival, which is currently taking place at London’s Olympia. It is the perfect event for those looking to do something a little bit different over the next day or two, while also staying away from the wet weather outside.

The exhibition hall at Olympia is packed with over 900 real ales, ciders, perries and foreign beers. The event gives visitors the chance to try lots of different styles and discover ales and beers from all corners of the world. There are also stands tucked between the numerous bars that offer traditional pickled eggs and crisps for those needing a light snack and also more substantial bites available such as fish and chips.

Brewery Bars are a strong focus of the festival and you will spot many of the leading breweries offering trials of their beer ranges. Most of the real ales have quirky names and we particularly liked sampling Ape Ale from the Blue Monkey Brewery and Mad Goose by the Purity Brewing Company.

The event is open this evening until 10.30pm and also runs tomorrow from 11am until 7pm, so there is still plenty of time to pop by for a taste of real ale!

Festival Opening Times: 15th August – 12 noon-10:30pm, 16th August – 11am-7:00pm. See more at: http://gbbf.org.uk
