Sloaney TV: Heston Blumenthal launches new eyewear with Vision Express
The season of spring launch parties is in full swing and our diaries are packed full of exciting press events. Aside from the release of new products, there are also some interesting collaborations in store for 2014.
Last week, I attended an event with our Editor Laura Toogood that concerned a pairing which really caught our eyes (excuse the pun). The last time we bumped into Heston Blumenthal was when The Sloaney team attended the Waitrose Summer Party and the charming chef is actually a friend of the family.
On this occasion, Heston was announcing his latest collaboration with Vision Express. A host of VIPs arrived at the flagship Vision Express store on Oxford Street in London for a preview of the new spring/summer collection.
Inspired by his innovative techniques, the bespoke range features 31 pieces across three collections and introduced Sun alongside the ophthalmic Core and Signature designs. The pieces interpret culinary themes, featuring frames created by using liquid nitrogen to freeze and shatter flowers and plants.
Throughout the evening guests were served delicious cocktails and also given the chance to arrange an eye test. I was unable to have my eyes tested on the evening of the event as we were running to a very tight schedule. Instead, I popped into the store at the end of last week to meet the team. I was given a very thorough examination and was also recommended to try glasses to help ease the strain on my eyes from spending much of the day in front of a computer screen.
It was the first time I have had my eyes tested in a while and I would definitely recommend arranging an appointment. The team was so helpful and having your eyes tested on a regular basis is very important.
