A toast to the Goodwood Revival at Belstaff House

Last night I attended a champagne reception at Belstaff House to celebrate the arrival of the new Belstaff by Goodwood collection for Autumn/Winter 2014. The event also toasted the forthcoming Goodwood Revival, which takes place from the 12th to the 14th of September, and those in attendance were welcomed with Veuve Clicquot  and delicious canapés.

Gavin Haig, who is the CEO of Belstaff, greeted guests before introducing motor-racing commentator Toby Moody. Toby interviewed Lord March and Max Chilton about the racing scene and also talked about Max’s F1 season to date.

I met Max’s girlfriend, Chloe Roberts, who had designed her own clutch bag for the night to match her turquoise shoes. Not only had she designed the bag but she had also knitted it during the car journey to the event! As a final year fashion student, her knitwear skills are impressive and I took a quick glance at her lookbook, which was full of striking accessories – she is definitely one to watch!

It was also a pleasure to meet actor and Cambridge alumni James Norton. Film and TV are not my strong point but it was fascinating listening to James as he talked passionately and modestly about the highs and lows of the industry. I later heard that the BBC crime drama Happy Valley, in which he takes one of the lead roles, is definitely worth watching. I will be tuning in as soon as possible and James has a number of other exciting projects in the pipeline.

Many guests opted for Belstaff attire on the evening and the new Belstaff by Goodwood capsule collection is comprised of four jackets. In the leather range there are two iconic racing jacket silhouettes celebrated: the leather “Perfecto” in the Stroker, and the Cafe’ Racer in the Veetwin. Meanwhile, the wax jackets both incorporate Lord March’s family tartan.

You can view the collection online at or in Belstaff House on Bond Street, London. The Goodwood  Revival takes place from September 12th-14th and tickets can be purchased online
