I recently visited the new bar and restaurant space at The Jam Tree, which is aptly named The Loft. The Jam Tree is a popular and well established restaurant and cocktail bar on the Kings Road, which also has a brand in Clapham Old Town.

To cater for the busy weekends they have extended the upstairs into a funky bar area. The Loft’s decor is urban, fun with splashes of colour and giant paintings on the wall. The area is open from Thursday to Sunday, serving food from lunch to the evening and turns into a bar area with space to dance if the party really gets going!

The Jam Tree is well known for its cocktails served in, wait for it, jam jars! Although the drinks menu isn’t too inventive – they serve the standard mojitos and bellinis – all of the cocktails are freshly made, presented beautifully and taste delicious.

The bar offers a great food menu as well, including cauliflower and cumin fritters as well as pressed belly of pork to start. This is followed by a variety of main courses such as a grilled chicken and papaya salad and a delicious pulled pork burger accompanied by tomatillo salas, coleslaw and French fries. The food is a treat for the taste buds and ideal for a casual bite to eat.

The Jam Tree offers something for all occasions, whether it be a mid week bite to eat with a friend in the downstairs bar or a Saturday night birthday celebration upstairs sipping away at the cocktails in The Loft. It just so happens that shortly after my visit, one of The Sloaney’s fellow feature writers chose the venue for one such occasion. Needless to say, it was a fun-filled night and a great venue for a warm summer evening.
