‘St James’s Glorious Garden’ Afternoon Tea at Conrad London
There was great excitement in the Westminster area when Conrad Hotels & Resorts announced that they would be opening their flagship London property.
The highly anticipated launch was very much welcomed and this new addition to the capital’s luxury hotel scene has proven successful.
One of the main attractions for residents and visitors to the Conrad London St. James is the fabulous Afternoon Tea offering that boasts free-flowing G.H. Mumm Champagne throughout.
What makes this particular Afternoon Tea stand out from others in the city is the carefully thought out seasonal hint that changes throughout the year.
Over the last few months, the theme has been Alice in Wonderland; however, when we visited, the menu had changed to St James’s Glorious Garden, which will run until mid-July before Summer in the City and Autumn Bramble follow.
Perfectly timed to coincide with the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, the current garden-inspired Afternoon Tea begins with a healthy vegetable appetiser and a collection of delicate finger sandwiches, which include the usual smoked salmon and egg mayonnaise choices, among others. Warm fresh scones are then served alongside a Chelsea Bun, which is particularly apt for the start of May.
The real highlight of this Afternoon Tea is the arrangement of the final selection of sweets. Terracotta pots are packed with edible soil and carrot cake, with moist rhubarb cake, butterfly macaroons and bumblebee chocolate desserts also featuring.
It is a beautiful scene, with each treat meticulously decorated. It certainly deserves full marks when it comes to considering the presentation of an Afternoon Tea and also tastes just as good.
The G.H. Mumm champagne complements the food perfectly and makes the experience ideal for those looking to celebrate a special occasion. This is an Afternoon Tea that is well worth booking for just two people but it also works brilliantly for a small group.
