Nutcracker by the English National Ballet is the ultimate festive treat
Christmas wouldn’t be the same for many without visiting a show in London’s West End. If you want to enjoy a dazzling display of ballet during the holiday season, the English National Ballet’s Nutcracker is the performance to visit.
This is the ultimate festive treat and you can join the fantastical adventure, which features more than 100 talented dancers and musicians. Clara’s encounter with an enchanted Nutcracker doll commences a magical journey for all to enjoy. There are many highlights in the production, including the battle with the Rat King and the experiences within the Land of Sweets & Delights, which features the famous Sugar Plum Fairy dance.

This acclaimed production is currently running at the London Coliseum. Choreographed by Artistic Director, Aaron S. Watkin, and Olivier Award-winner Arielle Smith, the performance is outstanding from start to finish. The set design is breathtaking and the costumes are beautiful.
Our team visited with the Nutcracker English National Ballet with a family experience in mind. Children over the age of 5 are allowed into the theatre. However, the show is quite long for little ones if they are not familiar with dancing. We would suggest age 7 and up is probably more appropriate for those with a general interest. That said, the stage design and inspirational dancing will undoubtedly capture the imaginations of even the smallest ballet fan.

It was lovely to see all generations in the audience. Watching the performance is a very popular tradition for many families. Even if you aren’t in the know about ballet, this is a spectacular show that everyone can appreciate at this time of year.
The Nutcracker English National Ballet performance runs until January 11th 2026. You can book tickets here: Nutcracker Ballet Tickets | English National Ballet
