Top mid-winter makeup buys
We love discovering new products here at The Sloaney and it is always great at this time of year to find some extra treats that help enhance your beauty routine.
We first heard about HJ Manicure when they hosted a launch for the new range at Orico on the King’s Road. Although we were unable to attend the party, we have since explored and tried some of the great range of colours. Some of the newest releases for 2015 include the Midnight Sky, Alpine Green and Pink Champagne shades (£9.50 from hjmanicure.com). The first two are particularly well suited to the current season and the latter will add a pop of colour for Valentine’s Day.
Most people are pretty loyal to their mascara brand; however, it is also good to mix it up on occasions and try new options. Venturing away from your favourite eye makeup can be a bit of a risk but we definitely urge you to try out the new Susan Posnick lash enhancing mascara (£22 www.effortlesssking.com). This is a seriously impressive product; it is easy to apply, never clumps and widens your eyes by coating each individual lash to give the best results possible. It is also paraben and gluten free – we really love it!
Contouring has taken the beauty world by storm and means you can cheat your way to Kate Moss style cheekbones for a night out. With contouring proving so popular, lots of new foundation palettes have come onto the market. HD Brows have a ‘Conceal and Correct Palette’ (from £25 hdbrows.com), which is not strictly for contouring but the shades definitely allow it to be used in this way. Its main purpose is actually hiding blemishes and dark circles to provide an immaculate complexion and it works really well alongside the Powder Foundation and Finishing Power.
