Experience Italian finesse at the new Baglioni Spa in London
Readers of our travel pages will know that I have a particular fondness for Italy; it is one of those countries that I would happily visit time and time again. So, whenever I have a yearning to return, and a trip is not possible, I make sure that I pop into the Baglioni Hotel in Kensington to satisfy my appetite for Italian custom. As the hotel proudly states, this is where ‘an Italian heart beats in the heart of London’.
Located a stone’s throw away from Kensington Palace this hotel embodies Italian finesse. From the staff to the wine list to the restaurant, it allows guests to enjoy snippets of the delightful and sophisticated culture. It also hosts a brand new spa and this was the reason for my latest visit to the Baglioni.
The Baglioni Hotel in London brings Italy to Kensington
The spa is nestled at the back of the hotel and offers a discreet place for guests to relax. It has been designed by Rebosio+Spagnulo and is open to residents and non residents alike. The facilities include female and male Turkish baths, treatment rooms and an extensive menu of facial and body treatments that use Natura Bissé products. There is also a gym that is managed by Hansen Personal Training, with specialist programmes for body conditioning and body sculpting techniques.
My visit was focused on trying out the facial treatments that are available. With skin that suffers a little from dehydration, I was pleased when the therapist concluded her initial inspection and recommended a bespoke treatment that would give it a significant moisture boost.
The Baglioni has a brand new spa
The treatment used a range of Natura Bissé products to help revitalise the pores. After applying a gentle peel and using stimulating massage techniques, a thick mask was applied and left to dry. When this was peeled away, it felt as though I had a brand new face! Not only did my skin look incredibly hydrated and healthy, but it felt like velvet to touch and was also completely blemish free.
There was no downtime at all and the impressive results have already lasted several days. There is a great variety of treatments available and facials on offer to suit all skin types. Among the most popular is the Life Infusion Ritual – The Art of Youth (90 mins), which is an intensive skin rejuvenating treatment that ensures brighter, firmer and noticeably younger looking skin. The Diamond Whitening System Pigmentation treatment (60 mins) is very good for those who suffer from uneven skin tone as it eliminates hyperpigmentation. The O2 Relax (50 mins) is tailored for those living in a city and is designed to help frequent travellers, smokers or those who live in a polluted environment keep their skin in the best possible condition.
