Innsbruck is an excellent airport to land in for those seeking a short transfer to the ski slopes. The city is surrounded by a number of excellent skiing destinations, some of which are only about 20 minutes away. The Relais & Châteaux Spa Hotel Jagdhof is something of a hidden gem.

This luxury hotel is located in Neustift, which is a short drive from the airport and the roads offer some beautiful views of the mountains.

Hotel Jagdhof

It is a stunning property, which boasts one of the most spectacular spa facilities that our travel team has ever seen. It is hard to explain how good the spa area is at this hotel. There are 20 different bathing, relaxation and sauna experiences available. The atmosphere, design and space make it a world-class facility.

Among highlights is the large outdoor swimming pool, which is joined to the indoor pool, and offers guests the chance to swim while the snow is falling from the sky above. There is an outdoor jacuzzi area too, which is lovely to sit in when surrounded by snow.

The spa at the Hotel Jagdhof

Inside there are many treatment rooms, as well as an expansive indoor pool, indoor jacuzzi, steam room and sauna. The décor is absolutely beautiful and the spa area is huge, with various relaxation rooms positioned in different areas.

While Hotel Jagdhof doesn’t offer doorstep skiing, it is very easy to visit a diverse selection of slopes by using their convenient transfer system.

Glacier skiing is possible on the nearby Stubai Glacier. The property offers complimentary transfers to the Glacier at certain times of the day. The Stubai Glacier provides spectacular skiing, with snow guaranteed during the winter months and skiing also possible from as early as October to as late as May. It should be noted that this is high altitude skiing and you will reach altitude that exceeds 3,200m. This is something to respect because some travellers can suffer from altitude sickness.

Another resort that is very close to the Hotel Jagdhof and only about 5-10 minutes in a taxi is Schlick 2000. This is a wonderful family-friendly resort, which offers gorgeous tree skiing. It is well worth visiting and a very good place for beginner and intermediate skiers. It is still very high, but it doesn’t reach excessive altitude.

A cable car takes you to the top of the slopes. You can then enjoy a long ski down. It is possible to stop part-way down the slopes for lunch at one of several restaurants. You can then get the cable car up again at a halfway point on the ski run, or ski all the way down to the bottom, where your driver can wait at the end of the day to take you back to Hotel Jagdhof.

Back at the hotel, you can enjoy Tyrolean hospitality, with refined gourmet food. In fact, the food is particularly impressive at this hotel. There is excellent cuisine in the restaurant, jCuisine, along with an extensive list of fine wines. The hotel can be booked on a half board basis. The breakfast and dinner menus are very good in terms of quality and choice.

The rooms offer beautiful views of the snowy mountains and the décor throughout the hotel is delightful. During the winter months, the decorations provide some extra sparkle, with glittering white penguins perched on furniture and in the windowsills. The service at this hotel is outstanding and the reception team is on hand to accommodate your every wish.

For those wanting a luxury destination that offers skiing, a gourmet food experience and outstanding wellness facilities, there are few places that will beat Hotel Jagdhof. It is ideal for couples seeking a romantic break, but also simultaneously caters for families.
