One of my favourite foods is Pizza, nothing hits the spot like a good Pizza; yet it is remarkable how many people get it wrong! So when I was invited to experience “Fat Sam’s Grand Slam” and dinner at The Goat on Fulham Road, I jumped at the opportunity.

If you’re not au fait, The Goat is a “New York/ Italian Style” Restaurant in the heart of Chelsea. Formerly the Goat in Boots this venue has been transformed and stripped back to create a relaxed and slightly industrial-style environment.

Famed for their wood-fired pizzas they certainly don’t disappoint! Upon arrival the dashing General Manager, Mike, was there to guide us through our culinary experience. I went for the carefully sourced Burrata and Roast Cherry Tomatoes and my companion had the Calamari fritti, black olive, sundried tomatoe pesto with a side of Polenta fries and truffles mayonnaise (the latter is a must try!).

After dinner we ascended to DRINK, which is the opulent cocktail bar and lounge. Every two weeks on a Thursday, it transforms itself into a 1920’s Speakeasy known as Fat Sam’s Grand Slam. This is a great place to visit during a national celebration or similar occasion as they really get into the mood. When we visited, the venue had been dressed accordingly for St Paddy’s Day and the owner had sourced a phenomenal fiddler to give the evening extra authenticity!

The cocktail menu changes fortnightly, so those of you who love variety or trying something different certainly won’t be disappointed. Luckily, I’m partial to the odd whiskey so the Tullamore Dew was warmly welcomed.

Fat Sam’s Grand Slam is open until 1am and it is perfect for those wanting to extend their evening into the early hours. I loved the fact that you could enjoy a different experience after dinner without actually leaving the venue.
