Escape for Hummingbird Pilates and pampering at Stoke by Nayland Lodges
As the name suggests, these brand new lodges build at the Stoke by Nayland hotel on the Essex-Suffolk border offer a wellness experience for those wanting to improve their longevity. Isolated from the impressive hotel – which hosts professional level golf tournaments and upscale weddings and events – these five boutique, Ecolodge buildings are separated by an impressive wooded area and provide an idyllic escape. This venue is therefore perfect to host the Hummingbird Pilates Retreat.
Upon arrival, I was shown to my luxurious countryside resort. My very own, elegantly-styled sanctuary, boasted a super-size king bed in a stylishly decorated bedroom, a kitchen, living area, dining room, and deck area that overlooked a section of the woods comparative to what you would see in the lavish countryside of Switzerland. The occasional golfer could be seen picking his way through the woods, having lost a ball from playing on one of the two 18-hole golf courses on the property. After getting settled, I was taken to the penthouse suite to meet the other eight guests taking part in the weekend, whilst enjoying a strawberry and champagne reception.
The Hummingbird Pilates Retreat, run by Kellie Jones and Eleanor Searle of Chelmsford’s Hummingbird Centre, offers the opportunity to escape to the countryside for a life-enhancing weekend, designed to bring your mind and body back into balance. Each morning begins with a dynamic Pilates session, followed by a full breakfast in the fantastic hotel restaurant. Lunch is taken at leisure, and the day concludes with a relaxing evening Pilates session, followed by a gourmet three-course dinner. Guests have access to the excellent health and fitness facilities of the Stoke by Nayland Hotel, including the indoor pool, steam room, Jacuzzi, and sauna. I also made sure to book a massage at the Spa, which provides a range of indulgent treatments, such as body wraps, Rasoul mud therapy experiences and Decléor facials and body treatments.
Weather pending, the grounds provide a fabulous scene for a leisurely afternoon stroll on one of the designated pathways around the estate. Amidst my afternoon of lounging around the spa and Jacuzzi, I also spent much time relaxing on my private balcony. This weekend retreat fuses the perfect amount of isolation and holistic therapies to leave you feeling rebalanced and reenergised. I left the retreat with a renewed vibrancy and relaxed mind and body.
For guests intending to share a double or a twin room, the cost of this exclusive retreat is £350 per person. For guests who prefer a single room, the cost is £395.
