Winter Racing: Ascot Christmas Meet and Cheltenham Festival special rates
The winner of the annual William Hill Sports Book of the Year Award was announced last week as Doped: The Real Life Story of the 1960s Racehorse Doping Gang by Jamie Reid, who is also a columnist for the Financial Times. This is only the second time that a horseracing themed book has taken the honours with the last success story relating to the tale of Seabiscuit. When news reached The Sloaney HQ of Reid’s triumph, it got the team thinking about the winter race season ahead.
Our readers will recall that earlier this year we attended the Royal Enclosure at Ascot for Sloaney TV to film the fantastic dresses and spectacular hats on offer – as well as to catch a glimpse of the action of the track! While those summer days seem a long way behind us, plenty of winter race fixtures are in the pipeline for us to look forward to over the coming months.
Obvious highlights include the Cheltenham Gold Cup in March and the Grand National at Aintree in April. It is never too early to organise your trips to these wonderful racecourses and bookings are now open for both. The Festival is even offering special rates for those who book their place online prior to the 14th of December.
If you can’t wait until the New Year to get your fix of action on the track, Ascot will be hosting Jingle All The Way, which is a Christmas Meet scheduled to take place later this month. It will last two days, beginning on Friday 21st of December and will provide racegoers with the chance to enjoy two Grade 2 Jump races. These include the Noel Novices’ Steeple Chase and the Grade 2 MITIE Kennel Gate Novices’ Hurdle. Designed for younger jumpers, they are great races that are held in preparation for the festival in March.
Visit Ascot Online to book your tickets to the Christmas Meet. To avail of the Cheltenham Festival offer visit their website. Additional note from William Hill: “We supported this feature and you can visit our website to view all our horse racing markets“.
