Rémy Martin, the iconic cognac, will be the lead spirits sponsor at this year’s GQ Men of the Year Awards that take place next Tuesday. The glamorous event is a highlight on the autumn social calendar and will be hosted at the Royal Opera House. This year it runs in association with Hugo Boss and, as usual, it will welcome a plethora of stars.

Serving the R&G and other special cocktails at the main awards ceremony, Rémy will also be creating a bespoke bar at the after-party on the Royal Opera House balcony. In the build-up to the event, Rémy have shared a couple of their exclusive cocktail recipes with readers of The Sloaney.

Rémy VSOP is pretty versatile and good for mixing. It is available at bars nationwide and you can easily re-create the R&G by asking for a top up of ginger ale and a twist of lemon peel.

The Rémy R&G and R&GQ

As well as the classic R&G, Rémy’s mixologists have developed a bespoke serve for the awards called the R&GQ. The R&GQ builds on the classic pairing of ginger and Rémy VSOP, which is mixed with British Ale and served in a traditional ½ pint tankard, complete with a frothy head.

If you want to try it at home, here’s the recipe…

35ml Rémy Martin VSOP

20ml Lemon juice

15ml Bottle Green Ginger and Lemongrass syrup

Very cold British Ale

Build into a chilled ½ pint glass tankard
