GET THE LOOK – How to emulate the Duchess of Cambridge’s style
With the New Year comes a new series on The Sloaney. We are starting ‘GET THE LOOK’ in order to help our readers follow some of Britain’s best loved fashion icons.
In a few days time, the Duchess of Cambridge celebrates her 30th birthday and her style is praised by many. Even before she graduated to royal ranks, Kate Middleton was tuning heads and this dramatic, yet elegant coral dress has proven one of her most memorable statements.
If you are suffering from post-Christmas blues, then now is the perfect time to add some colour to your wardrobe that will carry you through to springtime.
Kate is fond of Grecian style ball gowns and this beautiful Alberta Ferretti dress (£1,860) emulates her romantic and feminine style. You can complete the look by opting for black accessories, which offer a dramatic contrast. The Duchess adores Alexander McQueen and this skull leather clutch (£895) can be worn with these Rupert Sanderson black heels (£269). Remember that when following in the footsteps of this fashion icon, you should always opt against towering stilettos, as her style is traditionally more subtle.
If you are adverse to a long hemline – and let’s face it, they don’t suit everyone – the same accessories will work equally as well with this colourful silk dress by Vanessa Bruno Athe (£265). The Duchess often exhibits dresses that feature detail at the waist and the gentle tie belt will flatter many figures.
