Now that September has arrived our summer wardrobes will sadly start to become more and more redundant. Although the daytime sunshine still brings some heat with it, the fresh mornings and cool evenings mean we need to start unpacking those snug cardis and winter cover-ups that have been hidden away for the last few months.

The Autumn/Winter 2013 season brings with it a host of cutting-edge trends. If you are hitting the shops in the hope of staying ahead of the style pack, then our AW13 Trend Report by Fashion Editor Chloe Coco Arnold is an essential read.

For those of you who prefer to base your wardrobe on a select number of timeless pieces, now is the opportunity to make the most of mixing your summer favourites with those saved for winter. Combining the seasons can present a whole array of outfits that you never knew you had stashed away. Layering is always a popular option and the temperatures are still warm enough for shorts and skirts, when teamed with a loose knit. Equally, cigarette pants often suit at this time of year and can be paired with a delicate vest top.

Accessories become an increasingly important part of our wardrobes, with scarves, pashminas and gloves all providing some extra warmth during those chilly hours. Finally, don’t forget to get your winter boots re-heeled. While it is still a little early to graduate into fully covered footwear, closed-toe pumps and ankle boots are likely to prove increasingly popular as the leaves change colour.

Some new transitional pieces always come in useful. Here at Sloaney HQ we have been browsing one of our favourite department stores, Harrods, for such pieces to help bring us towards the snowy days ahead. If you need some inspiration, we have picked out some key highlights that include a Wool Jersey Dress by Alexander McQueen. The rich red colour will help welcome the new season with confidence and the long sleeves balance out the short hem. Pastals are expected to feature strongly and the J Brand skinny jeans use subtle colour blocking to give this theme a winter touch. One of the stand out accessories in our featured highlights is the Willow Classic Mulberry tote; this is simply irresistible, especially when in burgundy.
