Fortnum & Mason and Quintessentially Foundation’s ‘Fayre of St James’
The festive period is not a million miles away and members of The Sloaney team are starting to get very excited about a plethora of seasonal events that are already filling up our calendars. We will be sharing lots of highlights in the run up to Christmas and want to start by bringing our readers news of a key date for your diary. Fortnum & Mason are teaming up with Quintessentially Foundation to host their second annual Christmas concert. The Fayre of St James will be held in association with The Crown Estate and is scheduled to take place on Thursday the 5th of December.
This event is intended to help raise funds for a vital British charity called Rays of Sunshine. Rays of Sunshine is committed to granting wishes for seriously and terminally ill children between the ages of three and eighteen. Although it is a worthy cause throughout the year, Christmas is a particularly apt time to help support such work.
This is certainly a date to keep free and the evening presents a host of entertainment. To begin proceedings, a magical concert will be hosted in the beautiful enclaves of St James’s Church. Over 500 guests, including a selection of VIPs, will gather to enjoy carols, festive readings and some very special live performances from some of the UK’s biggest names.
After the concert, the focus will move to watching the Jermyn Street Christmas lights being switched on, before retiring to nearby Fortnum & Mason for a lavish celebration. The bash at Fortnums will include further live entertainment and a selection of sumptuous canapés, alongside festive cocktails and champagne. A team of Fortnum & Mason’s highly regarded personal shoppers will also be on hand for those wanting to get a head start on their Christmas shopping.
Ewan Venters, Chief Executive of Fortnum & Mason expressed his excitement at the plans, “The Second annual Fayre of St James is a great opportunity for guests to enjoy the Christmas festivities while supporting Rays of Sunshine, a wonderful charity that helps children throughout the UK”. Ben Elliot, Chairman of Quintessentially Foundation also revealed that he is confident of beating the fundraising target, “Last year was a huge success and we hope to make this year’s event even bigger and better with an aim to raise over £160,000 for Rays of Sunshine”.
