Claudio Celiberti unveils the world’s first million pound kitchen at One Mayfair
Last Thursday, The Sloaney team attended a truly spectacular launch. Italian interior designer and master craftsman, Claudio Celiberti, unveiled the world’s first million pound kitchen in style at a reception jointly hosted by celebrity chef Aldo Zilli at One Mayfair. The crowd was impressively serenaded by live opera songs and James Bond inspired music. Champagne corks popped throughout the evening in the dramatic venue as European high society gathered to marvel at the most expensive kitchen ever created.
Named, ‘Fiore di Cristallo’, it took more than twelve months to make and challenges modern design with the use of exquisite natural materials and fine craftsmanship. The world famous ‘Crystal of Murano’ (cristallo di Murano) is featured and the process for making this crystal is a complex and closely guarded secret. The result guarantees crystal of the highest quality, free of any impurities.
The one million pound price tag includes the elegant Swarovski Crystal and cristallo di Murano chandelier designed by Claudio Celiberti. Worth £26,400, this piece instantly draws attention to the kitchen and bounces light around the room. Each of the 27 cabinets, which cost over £400,000 to design and hand craft, also have a crystal door and handle. In addition, the kitchen features a crystal island worth £36,850, a £6,850 stone worktop, a crystal basin costing £2,680 and Philip Starck taps, chrome clad in crystal and valued at £1,600.
Speaking on his vision for the ‘Fiore di Cristallo’, Claudio Celiberti commented, “Fine craftsmanship is diminishing and being replaced by shortcuts that focus on speed and reduced budget, rather than quality and beauty. As a visionary designer who is committed to perfection I wanted to create a bespoke space that pushed boundaries, exemplified beauty and defined ultimate luxury. The end result is a kitchen that is not only functional but also a work of art with each cut, component and flourish being nothing short of perfection, even down to the finest detail.”
The ‘Fiore di Cristallo’ is completely unique and the only model that is currently available in the world. Anyone wishing to create their own ‘Crystal of Murano’ kitchen with Claudio, either to a similar specification, or completely tailored to their needs, will need to join the waiting list. The waiting list is currently eight months.
