Buy In Style at The Other Art Fair
How many ‘others’ do you know that are better than the ‘ones’? Here’s a few of mine: The Other Guys – a movie featuring two of the finest comedy performances in recent years; AnOther – a sumptuous print publication for all things cultural; The Other Tribe –an inspired collective of DJs mixing dance-inducing music of the highest class.
Then there’s The Other Art Fair, one of my favourite events in London’s busy cultural calendar and I’m brimming with excitement to see what’s in store for this year. More fun then its established cousins, this four-day event promises live acoustic music, sumptuous coffee and cocktails (depending on the hour, naturally) and no less than 100 creatives displaying their work. What better environment could you imagine in which to buy a piece of art or two.
The Other Art Fair is an artist-led fair showcasing talent not yet represented by galleries. Cut down from an impressive 500 applications, this edition promises to be better than ever. With a range of cutting-edge practices to explore, there’s something to suit everyone’s taste. Buyers are encouraged to speak directly to the artists, which makes for a wonderful opportunity to get to know their style and to support their endeavours directly. If you like what you see and want more, this is one of the best ways to talk about commissioning something specific for your house, office, or wherever you have a blank space, and most artists will be only too pleased to explore ideas with you.
Amidst the buzzing atmosphere of trendy North London venue Ambika P3, who knows…you might stumble upon the next big thing. Most importantly, trust your visual instincts, buy what you love, and you’re guaranteed to go home with something beautiful.
The opening night preview for The Other Art Fair takes place on Thursday 25th April and the fair itself runs throughout the weekend from 26th-28th April.
