Eye makeup inspiration: We share some top looks and tips!
Whether it is a night out with the girls, a special social soirée or a romantic date, eye makeup is probably a key part of your look. We love exploring the latest trends here at The Sloaney HQ, but we also like to spice things up occasionally and try something a little bit different.
For those of you who share our love of experimenting, we have gathered together a collection of our favourite eye makeup looks. Together with some top tips, we hope this will help give you some inspiration when getting ready for that all important event.
Well, it is summer after all! Adding some warm tones to your eye shadow is particularly flattering for those of you with green or blue eyes. The contrasting tones will really make your eyes pop, but be careful not to go overboard. This look is always a real head turner, but too much can make it seem like you have been crying… and we wouldn’t want that!
Golden hues work well with many skin tones and they are also a good way to add some shimmer to your eyes as dusk arrives. This look pictured below features the addition of some false eyelashes to give extra wow factor. The Sloaney team recommends Boudoir Lashes for permanent eyelash extensions that will last much longer than your night out.
Whilst going natural can be a brave move, it can also be a real winner. There is of course some makeup involved to flatter your eyes. Focus on brightening the skin around the eye to give it a fresh glow. Perfectly shaped eyebrows are also important to frame your face and there is always room for a splash of bright red lipstick to make the ultimate style statement.
Take some inspiration from your beach holiday and give your eyes a striking turquoise or deep navy finish. Some people make the mistake of thinking this will highlight blue eyes. In fact it is the warm shades that we mentioned earlier which do this trick. However, gradual shading with blues – especially under the eyes – is always a look that stands out from the crowd.
Smokey eyes never go out of fashion. This is a style that maintains its popularity throughout the year. It is ideal for those wanting to create a more seductive aura and is especially suited to making your eyes appear bigger than they really are. Not only should you use dark eye shadows and mascara but both a liquid and pencil eyeliner is important. The former will provide incredible definition and the latter is needed for a slightly smudged layer.
Again, this look is perfect for making your eyes appear very wide but it is a slightly more subtle style than the Smokey Eye take. You can create this with any colour palette but it is really important to use a broad spectrum of shades. Start with a lighter shade towards the inside of the eye and work your way out to using the darkest one that you have on the outer edge. Blending is important and you must have a good quality blending brush in order to make sure the shade shift is as smooth as possible.
