Hampton Manor is a beautiful country house hotel that is located a short distance from one of Britain’s busiest cities, namely Birmingham. This family-run hotel is a wonderful place to visit if you are travelling through this part of the world and are seeking to stop off in a luxury destination for an overnight stay.

Equally, Hampton Manor will more than satisfy a craving for a peaceful weekend away. The traditional property caters for rest, relaxation and time for reflection.

The hotel is a five minute walk from Hampton-in-Arden train station with direct trains from London and Birmingham. The striking building is situated within 45 acres of gardens and when The Sloaney travel team arrived at Hampton Manor we decided to begin our stay with a walk around the parameter of the estate.

Woodland paths led us on a journey that provided plenty of opportunity to admire the beautiful gardens, aged trees and the impressive main house. Bunny rabbits darted between impressive shrubs and at times it felt as though we had stepped into the film set of Alice in Wonderland.

The gardens at Hampton Manor are beautiful

This luxury hotel is ideal for a summer break because it has an expansive terrace, which overlooks the manicured lawns and lavender hedge. This is decorated with Ruinart parasols and you can enjoy a glass of this sophisticated champagne as dusk begins. However, the best of the hotel is still to come and sipping a glass of Ruinart Blanc de Blanc is only the start.

Hampton Manor was a major winner at the inaugural Birmingham Food, Drink and Hospitality Awards this year. The luxury hotel picked up two awards for their food and beverage by winning ‘Best Fine Dining’, as well as ‘Best Afternoon Tea Establishment’. They also added the accolade of ‘Best Hotel’.

The restaurant provides some of the best food in this part of the world and Peel’s Restaurant is enjoyed by hotel residents and those who travel just for dinner. The traditional, grand décor makes it ideal for a special occasion and there are various tasting menus on offer. We recommend making the most of the Head Chef’s recommendations because Rob Palmer is very particular about the produce that is used in his menus. His discerning taste has been praised with 3 AA Rosettes and the focus is on producing fresh seasonal produce using modern cooking techniques.

Delicious canapés begin the dining experience and these are followed by starter options that include foie gras with bacon jam and pickled onions. Those who enjoy seafood will likely be tempted by the crab with fennel and apple or the sea trout with dill, cucumber and caviar, which is excellent. You can continue the seafood theme for main by selecting turbot on the bone with mussels, mushrooms and wild garlic or red mullet dahl with coconut dashi and broccoli. However, we also recommend the beef with wholegrain mustard, heritage potato and salad.

Those enjoying a break during the British Summer Social Season should definitely make the most of the strawberries and cream for dessert. However, a cheeseboard with dessert wine may be more up your street. When it comes to the wine for the rest of dinner, we recommend wine pairing throughout. This ensures you have a glass that will complement each course and there are many interesting wines to try from the cellar including reds and whites from Italy, France and Spain.

After dinner guests can retire to one of the individually designed rooms at Hampton Manor. The master suite is called Sarah Ireland and it is named after the award-winning bathroom designer who is a friend of the family. Needless to say, she designed the bathroom in the hotel’s statement room and it includes a steam room, a round bath with its own champagne bucket and a stylish mirror.

Another leading room at the hotel is the George Fentham room, which is a spacious junior suite. Again, it boasts an impressive bathroom with a beautiful double ended boat bath and offers views of the garden from a large bay window.
