There is no better tipple to enjoy on a warm summer evening than a chilled glass of Rose wine. It brings a little piece of the South of France to your back garden or terrace and is likely to encourage fond memories of walking along the promenade in Cannes or relaxing in a hillside villa near St Tropez or Nice.

The South of France

Rose reminds us of the South of France

The Sloaney was recently introduced to a delicious selection of Rose wine and champagne made by Bruno Paillard that will certainly bring any memories of Provence to the forefront of your mind.

Bruno founded Champagne Bruno Paillard in 1981 and it remains to be one of a select number of independent and family-owned Houses. In 2005, he acquired Chateau des Sarrins in Provence, which is now organically certified.

Chateau des Sarrins has just launched its 2013 Rose which boasts a lovely, light colour. It has a suitably delicate taste that is fresh but also gentle.

The soft tasting notes mean that it works really well as an accompanying drink for a home BBQ, complementing canapés and all the usual summer party food servings.

However, it is not just for home; Rivea, Alain Ducasse’s latest opening at the Bulgari Hotel in Knightsbridge, has recently chosen to serve the Rose to guests in Jeroboams. It can be poured by the glass or a whole bottle can be presented for a large dinner party.

This is the only restaurant in the UK to list the Rose in Jeroboam size and the impressive presentation is definitely worth experiencing, even if you just opt for a glass.

Champagne

The Champagne is elegant and ideal for a special occassion

If you are toasting an extra special occasion, we have also been very impressed by Champagne Bruno Paillard’s Multi Vintage Premiere Cuvee Rose, which is available in Selfridges. As with the Rose, this is an elegant and pure champagne. It is gentle and refreshing, making it ideal to enjoy during the summer months.
