Saatchi Screen hosts 5,000 Internet diaries as part of Christopher Baker’s ‘Hello World!’

Those in London must visit the Chelsea area and pop in to the Saatchi Gallery’s new film and video space. The Saatchi Screen is currently hosting Chicago-based artist, Christopher Baker’s, ‘Hello World!’. The impressive installation comprises a wall featuring 5,000 Internet video diary entries, which makes for a striking and unique mosaic.

This piece of art highlights how modern technology has brought about a dramatic shift in the power of communication by enabling self-broadcasting. There are a vast amount of video diaries available on the internet and in order to qualify for inclusion in ‘Hello World’, each example of work must be the diarist’s first.
